And that was not all

J.B. McKinlay (USA) gave a lecture on male aging and the challenges of future research in this field, based on the results of the NIH-supported Massachusetts Male Aging Study (MMAS). The major conclusions: Aging is a multifactorial, biobehavioral phenomenon requiring multidisciplinary research-approaches; therefore, it will be necessary that a broad informed consent covering all future investigations must be obtained. In addition, agreement on key core items for future studies may facilitate cross national comparative studies and the elucidation of cultural influences on normally aging males.
Further highly interesting lectures and sessions at the 3rd World Congress on Men’s Health dealt with male depression (D. Winkler, A), sleep apnea (W. Popp, A) as well as how the internet may dramatically change the studies of future doctors and health professionals concerning sexual health (E.J. Haeberle, D).
Aside from the doubtlessly unique scientific program, all participants had the opportunity to enjoy the fair sides of Vienna as well: be it at the official festive reception hosted by the City of Vienna in the Vienna City Hall, with the highlight of this evening, a classical ballet-performance by members of the world famous Vienna State Opera Ballet, or at an evening at the “Heurigen”, a typical Viennese wine-place.
